Elkton Man Killed In SUV On New Years Eve

St. Augustine, Fl – An Elkton Florida man was killed on New Years eve when he was ejected from the SUV he was riding in. The Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled over on SR207 in St. Augustine, ejecting the passenger, Brian Stewart, and injuring the driver, Henry Mahr.

Police investigating the accident said that the SUV left the road and traveled into the grass median, the driver over corrected and the Jeep began to roll. Florida Highway Patrol reports that neither driver or passenger where wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene and Mahr was transported by St Johns County Fire Rescue to Flagler Hospital for treatment. Units from SJFR, SJSO, and the FHP responded to the accident.
