Hunter Rescued From A Tree After 3 Hours Upside Down

St. Johns County, Fl – A hunter was rescue from a tree in northern St. Johns County after somehow getting hung up in his tree stand and hanging upside down for 3 hours on Tuesday evening. Fire fighters from St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded the area of International Golf Parkway and staged units before using SUV’s to get into the woods.
Jeremy Robshaw, PIO St. Johns County Fire Rescue said “..The man’s friend called for help about 6:15 p.m. after finding him hanging in the treetops about 22 feet above the ground.”
Crews had to use SUV’s to travel about 10 to 12 miles over dirt roads that fire trucks would not fit down to get to the victim. They then had to walk about 200 yards into where the hunter was trapped. The hunter was taken to Baptist Medical Center South to be evaluated for what appeared to be minor injuries. No word on his condition is available at this time.
