Florida National Guard Maritime Operations

Clay County, FL – The Florida National Guard has created a new unit to assist local level first responders in the response role of natural and man-made disasters.

This unit is called the CERF-P, which stands for CBRNE (Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives) Enhanced Response Force Package. The Florida CERF-P unit currently has 187 troops assigned. These guardsmen, both Army National Guard and Air National Guard perform these duties in addition to those required of their parent unit.

The Florida CERF-P troops spent this week on the water conducting training with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission in Maritime Operations and Water Rescue/Recovery.

Training was conducted all week at Kingsley Lake on Camp Blanding in addition to spending the day on the waters of Black Creek on 11 May 2010.
